Bug Description

Binary package hint: seahorse-plugins

After upgrade from Natty to Oneiric, Synaptic displays seahorse-plugins as not installed residual config. Attempt to reinstall the package would remove a bunch of other essential packages. (no-screenshot).
seahorse-plugins allows gedit to en-decrypt textfiles, otherwise user needs to work in a terminal, which wouldn't be user-friendly.

Since LP doesn't let me upload screenshots anymore, here is the list of packages to be removed when attempting to install seahorse-plugins:
desktopcouch, gnome-keyring, indicator-weather, libsyncdaemon, libubuntuone, python-desktopcouch-application, python-ubuntuone-control-panel, software-center, ubuntu-sso-client, ubuntuone-client, ubuntuone-client-gnome, ubuntuone-control-panel, ubuntuone-control-panel-gtk.

Thanks for the report, that is due to the fact that there hasn't been an
seahorse-plugins release after 2.30. See

Thanks for the response and bug report which doesn't seem to be worked on; what a pity. I'll have a look if there is a gedit-plugin as replacement.

Since debian sets it to fixed by removing the package unsure if this needs here to be set to won't fix or also fix released in order to close this bug. Advise appreciated.
There is already a wishlist to package 3.0.2 on Bug #862609

Is there any replacement we can use in Oneiric while we wait? I really need this!

So there's no way to encrypt/decrypt things in gedit or nautilus any more? Is the only way now to use the command line? I'm really dumbfounded if there's no graphical way to use gnupg any more.

I'm closing this bug as the package has been removed from the archive. The upstream has replaced this package by seahorse-nautilus and its packaging is tracked at bug 862609. Please see that bug for more information. Thanks.
