Natty Beta: Skype icon 1 pixel in size at logon

I solved the problem by uninstalling skype and then reinstalling from the repos through Software Centre. I did notice that the problem came back today after I installed a "partial upgrade" using Update Manager.

It is still happening if started on login using the Startup Applications Preferences and entering "skype" as the command. I can't believe no one else has seen this or is affected.

I experience the same problem.
My current work-around is to use the static Skype downloaded here : http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-static
It seems to always show the icon in the notification applet. Unfortunately, the GTK theme is not applied using the static compiled version.

I have the same problem with Mumble, its a qt Applicatioon too.

skype and mumble have only 1x1 pixel Icon.

I have the same problem in the release version of Natty (64-bit) and Skype beta 2.2.0.25.

11.04 Desktop 64 bit installed today April 30th. Clean installation in an empty/formatted harddisk.
I use "Ubuntu Classic" during login (and not Unity -> BLEAH)

Skype 2.2.0.x downloaded from Ubuntu Repo: same problem as messages befoer. The Notification Area has 1 pixel icon.

Removed and installed http://www.skype.com/intl/it/get-skype/on-your-computer/linux/downloading.ubuntu64 (file skype-ubuntu_2.2.0.25-1_amd64.deb ) : same problem as before (same file ?)

Removed and installed http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-static (skype_static-2.2.0.25) : it works fine. Icon is correct in Notification Area (only with a white background) but Skype font are ugly .... but it works. I use this.

HI! I have same problem with skype and VLC player. I think it's a notification area issue. if add a notification applet to the gnome panel after skype or VLC launching, icons displaying well. But if skype starts when applet is on panel, icon has 1 pixel size.

I confirm what Jaroslaw wrote: if you remove and add the applet again, you see the missing icons.

Some hours ago it was released a new Skype version (in main Ubuntu repo).
Now it works !

Removing and adding the applet again is not working for me, nor I see a new version of Skype in the repos...my one is 2.2.0.25-1 maverick ._.

Same version as mine, and I don't see any new version in the repos. My
workaround is to run Skype manually after login and it *usually* works
OK after that. I wish someone would fix this.

I have the same problem for skype and vlc in ubuntu natty with classic interface.
Removing and adding notification icons applet temporary fixes the problem, but still it's very annoying.

This looks like gnome-panel bug so I added correspongin project and created bug in gnome bugzilla.

Other Italian Ubuntu users has the new version in update.
Probably it was only a Italian language fix, no more........
