Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

I was trying to report a bug from behind a firewall but with no luck. The ubuntu-bug script does not respect the http_proxy environment variable nor the system-wide proxy settings.

I ended up using tsocks.

On Ubuntu Oneiric to send a crash report (i am behind firewall and i must use ntlm proxy) i do this workaround to send crash:
export https_proxy=$http_proxy
cd /var/crash
sudo -E sudo -E apport-cli -c ...some_crash_report.crash

apport-bug uses https, so you just have to

export https_proxy=....

instead of

export http_proxy=....

I initially thought this was a bug too, but I think it isn't. I simply had to set the correct environment variable.

apport-collect does not work on 12.10, when proxy must be used and is configured through system settings
