Bug Description

Binary package hint: ppp

Hardware platform: Compaq Presario CQ61
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx
Package version: 2.4.5~git20081126t100229-0ubuntu3
Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02)

The download speed reached a max of 3 Mb/s, using the same platform with a Fedora Core 12 (64) the download speed reached 94 Mb/s, downloading the same file from the same remote server. The pervious versions of ubuntu had the same problem on this platform.

I'm using Ubuntu out-of-the-box configuration, no iptables, no HTB/CBQ configured.

The problem is in the Kernel module r8169 , I change it to module r8101 , and I reached a speed of 76 Mb. I think you can close this bug, beacause the problem is not in the ppp package.

Changed in ppp (Ubuntu):
