Bug Description
Binary package hint: unity
On my Gateway LT31u (Radeon X1250, a.k.a. rs690m), unity crashes on startup. I installed amd64 Ubuntu Desktop Maverick Alpha 2 and then the "ubuntu-netbook" package. Everything is dist-upgraded.
When I try to log in, the top-left quarter of the screen gets a white box which disappears soon after; then the background, top panel and left panel appear. (The clock and indicator applets are present.) After about half a second, the panels disappear and the whole thing repeats.
The crash occurs in the "mutter" process. I get different crashes depending on whether KMS is enabled. (I usually disable KMS because otherwise compiz's wobbly windows cause a crash and https:/
Perhaps related to Bug #596292
I've tried putting "AccelMethod" "XAA" and "AccelDFS" "off" into my xorg.conf; they don't change anything. I've also tried "DRI" "off", but that just prevents mutter from running entirely.
Attached: three full backtraces, lspci info.
