Binary package hint: firefox

I use Ubuntu 10.04
The predetermined viewer is Evince.
When downloaded, the pdf is opened by Evince.
Firefox does not open directly the pdf file, nor does not recognize other opener although it resides in Netbook.

Confirmed in Jaunty -> Lucid upgrade with Firefox 3.6.5pre. Right-clicking, left-clicking, middle-clicking, whatever on a PDF link saves the file. I've set "application/PDF" action under Applications to "Use Adobe Reader 9 (default)" and to "/usr/bin/acroread" specifically. Neither work. This was not a problem in Karmic with 3.5.9 (I think).

Confirmed in Hardy to Lucid upgrade. The only workable view was evince.

I guess I have just figured out what's going on here. It was ubufox behind all this.

For people who were also upgrading from Hardy, you might want to disable the extension ``Ubuntu Firefox Modification'' (which comes from package ``ubufox'') and turn it back on. I also had a complete purge/reinstall for all the firefox stuff before that, just not sure whether it's relevant or not.

In my case, that solved my problem. Now I can open PDF file with /usr/bin/xpdf without any problem. I had this idea somewhere else suggesting ubufox might conflict with other extensions.

Packages:
  firefox 3.6.8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
  firefox-branding 3.6.8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
  ubufox 0.9~rc2-0ubuntu2.1

for me, switching off and on the Ubuntu Firefox Modification extension did not solve the problem.
I have several associations with helper apps that do not work anymore. where can I edit these settings?

This has nothing to do with ubufox. The problem is well understood, and is a duplicate of bug 239952
