Bug Description

This is on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Desktop: Gnome
Compiz: 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15
Totem: 2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1
Chipset: Intel 82865G Integrated Graphics
Hardware: Dell Optiplex GX270

If I have Compiz enabled, Totem almost always display a black screen for video. This includes the example Ogg Theora ("UbuntuIsHumanity.ogv"). If I move or resize Totem, I will see a frame and then it gets replaced with all black.
Trying full-screen and other options does not seem to resolve it.
As soon as I disable Compiz, Totem works perfectly.

Sometimes Totem will display the video initially when I am running Compiz, but as soon as I resize or move Totem the problem begins again.
This does not happen with Compiz disabled.

The "ubuntu-bug" tool seems to have fingered gstreamer0.10, from the behaviour it looks more like a Compiz fault; but I am no expert.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GStreamer is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure - I have not upgraded this unit to Maverick. Either way, Lucid is LTS and the problem exists in that.

I will try and do the upgrade next week and report back.

Just upgraded to Maverick and I no longer see the issue with the few files I have tried.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
