Bug Description

Having the beagle daemon running and being able to do queries using the CLI interface to beagle, the graphical front-end (aka Best) is broken.

I am running an up-to-date Dapper with Beagle package version 0.1.2-0ubuntu3.

Output when running Best:

=================================================================
Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates
a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
used by your application.

Please test 0.1.3.
Works for me.

I'm not the original reporter, but I just installed 0.1.3 on Dapper and I see this crash.

Installing Blam didn't help, nor did removing my .beagle directory. The daemon runs fine.

Best does not work for me neither. It crashes when looking for Mail. I can do the other type of searches individualy though.

Some of this has been reported in the beagle mail list: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/dashboard-hackers/2005-December/msg00054.html

I still see this. Perhaps this is a i686 only thing?

I am willing to do some more testing whenever the new version 0.2 gets uploaded to the Dapper package repository.

In my opinion Beagle ought to be part of every modern desktop. Hope it gets into Dapper before release.

The new 0.2 version of Beagle will not get into Dapper before the following dependency issue gets solved:

gmime-sharp >= 2.1.19

Current version is 2.1.18. So don't waste your time trying to compile Beagle yourself. :-(

This is a non-issue in the new UI. Closing.
