Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

0) Empathy 2.28.1.1
1) Ubuntu 9.10
2) 2.28.1.1-0 ubuntu1
3) I expected the file to send to a user [a contact] who is using the Google talk chat program
3.1) I expected when I made a call to a user [a contact] who is using a Google talk chat program , for the "connecting" status at the lower left hand side of the window to change to "connected" when the user accepted the call
4) I reports that the user does not have file transfer abilities , while the normal Google chat program will tranfer
4.1) call status does no change from "connecting" to "connected" even when user accepts call ...

you have reported two bugs into one. when I tried sending file from empathy using gtalk the file was sent if the other user was also using empathy but if the other user was using an other OS gtalk client then the file was not send.

this page suggests http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/wiki/Protocols%20Support that google talk file transfer is not supported.

@jason please open a separate bug for the other issue

I chatted with telepathy guys and they say that empathy to empathy and empathy to pidgin file transfer is supported but not for windows client. although work is ongoing to support that. Is the other user using windows?

I've recently encountered a problem of sending files via Gmail to Gmail accounts.

I'm using Empathy 2.30.2-1~ppa10.04+1
Recipient is using Pidgin on Ubuntu 10.04

From my side the file transfer shows 100% complete, however recipient is only obtaining 98-99% of files before been told the sender "me" has cancelled the operation, which isn't the case. The transfer dialog window remained open until the receiver confirmed to me the receipt of file.
