Chris, this was my work around:
I finally decide to try using a grabber. Surprisingly the grabber for my country (Argentina) worked perfectly and added all my channels with name included.
So, when you add a source chose a grabber. Then on "Input connections" select the source and press "Fetch channels from listings source" button.

I still think this is a bug:

From the mythtv official how to:
On the connection pane there is a "Scan for channels" button, if you are configuring a digital source such as a DVB card, you need scan for channels and you must do this before pressing the "Fetch channels from listings source" button. You may scan for analog channels on an analog input, but this is not needed.
So "Scan for channels" button should be there whether is an analog or digital tuner card.

Until upstream has resolved this (or unless someone else develops a patch and submits it upstream), I understand the work-arounds to be:

* Fall back to 0.21 (available in the 9.04 repos), do the channel scanning there, then upgrade that database
-or-
* Enter channel info manually
-or-
* Use a service which provides lineups for your area (schedules direct or perhaps some other xml source)

Is this bugfix ever going to make it upstream into lucid lynx ?

The mythbuntu version of lucid lynx (10.04) says: "MythTV 0.23 build 24104 is included". That should say enough. Since mythtv 0.23 is not out officially (beta 3 I see at the site) I'd say myth in ubuntu will be updated once it is out.
