Bug Description

I have noticed few other people complaining about the increase in Karmic boot time as compared with Jaunty. I first upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic via live update. My laptop used to boot in 20Sec measured using 'bootchart' on Jaunty. After the upgrade, boot time shoot up to 2 minutes. I thought a clean install of Karmic might help this. I then did a clean install of Karmic, but the boot time is like 1 min and between 5 to 8 seconds. I upgraded to Karmic thinking that boot time is further improved as was mentioned in the features, but found it otherwise. Here are my laptop specifications:-

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.40GHz, with 3.4 GB Ram, 320 GB harddisk with 80 GB partition dedicated to Karmic fir Ext4 file system and another 3.5 GB partition dedicated to swap.

Ubuntu gurus, can you help us improve this boot time?

My Karmic installation in a similar hardware and configuration is like yours. I don't feel Karmic to boot slower than Jaunty did.

Farooq, If you could compare bootcharts between Jaunty and Karmic in your Inspiron 1525 it will be very helpfull.

Thanks in advance.
