Binary package hint: gdm

Similar to Bug #402017, in that if you select "Invert" the colour scheme for the gdm greeter, you cannot get back to the original state.

Workaround: uninstall (completely) gdm, then reinstall gdm, ubuntu-desktop

Confirmed

Workaround:
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /apps/metacity/general/theme HumanLogin
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme HumanLogin
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme HumanLogin

I have this problem too...

sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /apps/metacity/general/theme HumanLogin
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme HumanLogin
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme HumanLogin
This did not work...

I've removed gdm and reinstalled it and ubuntu-desktop, now it's back no normal *happy*

what's the difference to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/402017 ? why isn't this one marked as duplicate of the other one ? Or at least on part could be seperated in the other bug report or ?

Simon, your reverting way worked for me beside the fact that I thought there would be another icon in the default install.

For me Simon's fix worked fine except for the icons, I had to use this line to restore my icons, and I'm not at all sure why this is different for me b/c we are all running Karmic here I would think but anyways...

sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme HumanLoginIcons

This worked like a charm and its all back to the regular login screen which I for one like quite a lot actually, thanks Simon and everyone else!

Hasn't worked for me I'm afraid. Can't see any difference.

But after doing the above, reinstalling GDM & Ubuntu-desktop, as suggested, DID work.
