Speedup startup when many many fonts installed

Bug Description

In Ubuntu, may be verified in some other systems. When we have many fonts installed (400+), we start Inkscape (0.46 or 0.47pre0), it takes a long time. When we start another instance, it takes another long time. It would be nice to wait this time only for the first instance.

How do you know the fonts are causing the problem?

When I had less fonts installed, the startup was quicker.

The only I can say (I'm not a developer) is that some other people are having this problem too (#418726). Thus I'm tagging this as 'performance' in the hopes that it will be taken care for 0.48/0.49.
