Bug Description

I just updated to Ubuntu 9.10. I was running Ubuntu 8.14 without problems (or whatever version number the previous version was). Now I'm am trying to burn the Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit .iso file to a DVD with Brasero. I noticed that now there are two progression dialog boxes instead of one. Meaning that the burning process will go through a burning stage then it goes through either a checksum or burning image phase. It didn't do this in the previous version of Ubuntu.
However right at the end of the second stage of the burning process I will get an error 24, " Some files may be corrupted on the disc". This happens every time. I also tried downloading the Windows 7 RC and burning that iso to disk but I get the same error. There is not a problem with the ISO file.
It seems like it's a bug but I haven't found to many reports of this. I am running 64bit Ubuntu with a SATA DVD/CD/Blu-Ray Burner. The physical burner does not have any hardware problems as I am able to burn successfully on my Windows XP partition. Below is a copy of the error log. This bug has been initially reported as a question (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+question/70367) by dongiuseppe2684, I found it documented enough to be turned into a bug report directly.

Thanks for the report, could you get us the full debug log? please get one with: brasero --brasero-media-debug &> brasero.txt and attach that file to the report? are you using wodim or growisofs? thanks.

It's very important to notice the correct Ubuntu release, and whether it is a beta version or the final release.
In the original post it says Ubuntu 9.10, and then Ubuntu 8.14, which is rather confusing.

The package version is also important.

launching brasero from a terminal and writing an iso gives:

I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home/bobcat/.config/brasero/brasero.session"

i believe that brasero simply wont burn a windows 7 iso. my father wanted me to retrieve that iso, and with a little googling, i found that it wasn't doable using the usual burning tools in ubuntu. i did try a trial of "nero for linux" and it burned it without issue. i am unsure what it is about the format about that iso, but brasero wont burn it. the issue i am having, is iwith burning jaunty isos, or any other iso. after every linux iso i burn, i get a error saying that some files may be corrupted on disc please check error log ? the error log is attached to this post. i thought it might be attributed to the burner i was using but i swapped burners today, and it still gives me that error burning jaunty or other linux related isos, and i've reinstalled jaunty every time, so i know its a common problem, and i'm doing nothing other than right click write iso. i cannot burn a windows 7 iso, and of course, i should be able to, its in iso format, but i care much less about that and much more about jaunty isos, and the error that says something went wrong. despite it saying something went wrong, the dvd's that were burned (use dvd's instead of cd media for lack of media) actually turn out just fine. despite the error log, they are functional burns. i'm on 32 bit jaunty using the latest up to date kernel.

I am also encountering this bug. Not sure how to produce any output of use, do let me know if the error dialog output is sufficient and I'll test on an RW (made enough coasters due to this!!).

Hi.

I am having the same problem. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 with kernel 2.6.28-13-generic i686
My Brasero version is 2.26.1
I was trying to burn the pre-final back track iso, just by right click on the iso file and choose "Write to Disc".
The strange is that, I have tested the dvd and all seems fine. This happened before (so far I had the error 4 times in 5 burnings). Some days ago, I've recorded a avi file to a CD and the same happened. Then I went to see the avi movie and it was fine. It looks like a false positive alert.

I have attached the log file.

I also have this issue with 64bit 9.04 (standard release jaunty, not beta.) It happens with every DVD I burn, but the discs seem to read fine. It happens with ISOs burned in Brasero, or Brasero-made data projects. I haven't tested with DVD video discs. I also haven't tested with command-line tools. I basically just ignore the error, and all seems ok, but it's annoying, and troubling, especially for backups.

I have also attached my error log.
