Bug Description

I have updated to HPLIP 2.8.5 on Intrepid (Ubuntu package). The hp-toolbox appears with a new layout. Now the "Supplies" tab is always grayed out, independent which printer was chosen.

Having it grayed on a fax queue is OK, but on all real print queues it should be active.

This appears to be fixed in the latest (2.8.6.8) build. I verified this in Ubuntu 8.04 with the latest build, using a C7200. The supplies tab is grayed out on the fax queue, but when you select the print queue, the supplies tab is active.

Here I have an update for users of HPLIP 2.8.5: I have connected an additional printer and so the entry of the first connected printer in the hp-toolbox is not a fax queue any more. Now the "Supplies" tabs are not grayed any more and one can click on them. There is still a little problem: By simply clicking the tab, the list of supplies stays empty. To read the values one has to click the "Refresh" button in the toolbar.

Linus, Please check HPLIP 2.8.6.8 by connecting only one fax-capable printer and whether the toner levels are accessible in the print queue entry.

Another thing: The supply levels seem generally not to be updated automatically. I am currently charging the battery of my OfficeJet H470 and I have to click "Refresh" to see the bar growing.
