Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

gnome-screensaver-2.21.6-0ubuntu3 using Hardy (beta) on an IBM ThinkPad R51 ati rv250 laptop.

on a fresh desktop login (after either reboot or logout) the initial fade into screesaver cannot be interrupted by trackpoint or touchpad motion. the mouse pointer remains responsive during this fade and the screensaver can be interrupted at any point after the fade is complete. tested with compiz enabled and disabled. tested with screensaver themes 'Blank Screen' and 'Flurry'. *not* tested with any non-integrated pointing devices. not sure if this actually a 'feature' or not, but it might get annoying if the display is set to lock on screensaver.

Thanks for your report, is this still an issue with Intrepid?

Hi Pedro, sorry for the late reply. Intrepid does not exhibit the problem. I will do a quick install and update of Hardy on a spare partition (same machine as before) and report if the problem still exists in Hardy. If so, perhaps a backport might be in order?

Tested Hardy 8.04.1 - Both a fresh install and a fully patched system still exhibit the issue. As mentioned before, Intrepid release (both fresh install and patched) does not exhibit the issue. As always, thanks for the wonderful effort from Canonical and the wider Ubuntu community.
