So I have changed shebangs in https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2019-December/106258.html

And it was I who added the "wrong" package to the autopkgtests in https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-team/2019-December/106376.html

@doko, our 5.4 package in focal-release doesn't have any python shebangs for rebuild testing (which I think is all that is important here), though our autotests very likely do have them. We do have a build dep on python-dev, I'll look into that but I suspect that is for building python bindings for perf. If you're seeing some issue beyond this please provide some more detail.

my only information are the failing autopkg tests.

s/python-dev/python2-dev/ probably will help. but then you have to make sure to call python2 instead of python.

having that converted to python3 would be the preferred option.

seth your patch will not be enough to fix this! python is also replaced with python2!

Bah, I did miss that the ubuntu-regression-suite test now has a python dependency. I'll fix that.

I've removed the python-dev build dependency. It looks like the only thing that would need that is perf, but we're disable building the python bindings anyhow so it appears we really do not need it at all.
