Bug Description
The current Debian build method relies on python-central, which has been replaced with dh_python2. At present, python-central can be rebuild from Oneiric onto Trusty and Xenial, but this is not a good long-term solution. The Debian team have advice on how to update to dh_python2 at:

which would be useful to implement for spud.
