Software Center does not load following upgrade to 14.04

Bug Description

- Load of icon from dash reflects busy/loading for a moment then stops.

- Load from terminal window reflects the following error and terminates.

Ken Rawlings solved this problem by performing a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
