contacts fails when adding an email address to contacts

Bug Description
Steps:
1. Have an existing contact with no email address
2. Swipe up to get the edit the button
3. Click edit
4. click in the email field
5. type in an email address
6. click Save
Result:
The spinner spins for a very long time, eventually reporting an error that it cannot load contacts

In fact, after killing the app and restarting it, the email address was saved. There was also a jabber account, which I suppose I accidentally put in the email field. Deleting the jabber account does not work, I get the symptoms described above.
