Bug Description
Hi,
On some powerpc platforms the kernel from daily builds of raring (tested 20130318) hangs on boot. Patches queued for linux-stable-3.8.4 (not released yet) fix the boot hang. I tried booting the daily build initrd with a kernel build using the mentioned patches and the system booted, so it seems missing patches are the problem.
The relevant patches listed as patch name, linux upstream commit, linux-stable (3.8.x) commit:
powerpc/kexec: Disable hard IRQ before kexec, 8520e443aa56cc1
powerpc: Apply early paca fixups to boot_paca and the boot cpus paca, 25e138149c19fa0
powerpc: Make VSID_BITS* dependency explici, e39d1a471484662
powerpc: Update kernel VSID range, c60ac5693c47df3
I put these patches based against the vanilla linux-3.8.0 kernel in the for-raring branch of my ps3 git repo here:
