Bug Description

When I adjust the volume on my laptop using the keys (Fn+F5/F6) the keys repeat (making the volume go all the way up/down) and then try to continue increasing/decreasing.

Not only can I not adjust the volume properly (set to a medium vol) I can no longer use any text input field (the keyboard no longer works), and the system icons (top right, volume etc.) no longer respond to mouse clicks.

First noticed on 13.04, but same problem found with 12.10 (usb boot).
Is there some driver I need to install to fix this? (Advent laptop 8117, intel dual core T2080 1.73GHz)
BIOS doesn't apear to be updateable

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1157334/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I read though the info at wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting but don't understand it fully.
I seems to be like the problem described in 'Step by Step Troubleshooting' 4.b.
Not sure how to capture it (keyboard locks when I recreate fault anyway)

affects: ubuntu → udev (Ubuntu)

Can you please follow "Fixing broken keys" as documented in /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt.gz and put the information here? Thank you!

1)$ /lib/udev/findkeyboards
AT keyboard: input/event4

2)$ sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event4
0xAE VOLUMEDOWN
0xB0 VOLUMEUP
(scan codes looked ok)
keys repeat!

I can't find file like "95-keyboard-force-release.rules" in /lib/udev/keymaps/

3)$ cat /sys/class/dmi/id/sys_vendor
DIXONSP
$ cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_name
DIXONSP

4)$udevadm info --export-db
(see attachment)

5) ?

6) Should all be here
Not sure what to do about key release rules
Do I need to create the 95-keyboard... file in /lib/udev/keymaps/ ? Containing what exactly?

---------------
systemd (204-0ubuntu5) saucy; urgency=low

  * Add 0000-upstream-keymaps.patch: Backport latest keymap fixes from
upstream, as we won't be able to update to newer upstream releases anytime
    soon. (LP: #1193147, #1157334, #1152377, #1012365, #727139)
  * Refresh our patches to apply cleanly.
