Bug Description

Hi,

I'am asking for an update-request as suggested by marcobra (Marco Braida) to integrate the last gparted version regarding to a new fix/feature.

Indeed, there was a major fix in version 0.14 of GParted that allows LVM2 to be manipulated... Actually, the Ubuntu package contents a 0.12.1 version anterior to this fix.
Furthermore, the 0.14 version is qualified of "stable" by GParted team.

Extract from gparted changelog:
"The big news with this release is the added ability to move, resize, check, create, and delete Physical Volumes under Logical Volume Management - LVM2 PV (bug #670171). This major addition to GParted 0.14.0 is thanks to work by Mike Fleetwood."
    {Extact from http://gparted.org/news.php}

My Linux/Ubuntu version:
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10
Codename: quantal

Tell me if you need more infos.

Thats a good news, hopes to see it landing asap into raring to replace the actual "unstable" 0.12 one.
One of my gparted issue is fixed by that 0.14 release: "unallocated space within the partition" (bug 683255)
The one fix is : "/etc/resolv.conf not created during bootstrap" (bug 680498)

@dino, the problem with "/etc/resolv.conf not created during bootstrap" is related to the GNU/Linux OS, and does not involve a change to the GParted application code.

Upstream package now at 0.14.1

It does seem strange that the Ubuntu Wiki page on LVM states that partitions can be formatted for LVM use with Gparted, but Ubuntu fails to provide a version of Gparted that will actually do this.

The new functionality in 0.14.1 is to allow resizing and moving the partitions; you could always create them.

I packaged the new release last week and sent it to the Debian maintainer to upload, but have not heard back from him yet. I'm assuming he is busy with the holidays and I will follow up after new years.

Note that 0.15 and 0.16.0 have a crash bug ( it's actually in glibmm ) and so you should not use them. 0.16.1 should be released in a few days to fix it.
