I don't have any wifi network but only ethernet card. After to most recent update the GUI shows disconneted
but the ethernet card works fine. I have this problem on my laptop and on my desktop too.
The ip are statically assigned, i also try to assign the ip via dhcp but the gui always shows as disconneted.

In my syslog i can see this messages:

I can not reproduce this problem with
  - a desktop running Feisty with ethernet card
  - a laptop running Gutsy with ehternet + wireless
The status is correct while connected and disconnected

Can you try with a later version of distro and see if it works. Please re-open the bug if the issue still exists.
Thanks
