Hello Mruthyunjaya, and thank you for your report. Based on the information in the description, it appears that you are running Ubuntu 10.10, Maverick Meerkat. Unfortunately, support for this version was ended on 10 April 2012. Please update your machine to a newer version of Ubuntu as there have been many bug fixes in the time since 10.10.

Thanks!
Gary

Hello again Mruthyunjaya! It might be helpful to change your archive mirror. To do this, just open Software Center and choose menu item "Edit"->"Software Sources...". In the dialog that is displayed, select the dropdown menu "Download from", and choose "Other", then choose a different server, if possible close to your location, from the list that is displayed.

Let us know if this does not help, and thanks again!
