ERROR:nautilus-canvas-container.c:6032:finish_adding_new_icons: assertion failed: (!container->details->auto_layout) Aborted (core dumped)

Asked by Chiranjeev Das

Nautilus wont open. Neither from GUI or from terminal.

Using sudo, it opened but gave warning to create a directory /root/.config/nautilus. I did. But still nothing.

Here's what typing 'nautilus' gives in terminal:

chiranjeevdas96@Chiranjeev-MacBuntu:~$ nautilus
sys:1: PyGIWarning: Nautilus was imported without specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Nautilus', '3.0') before import to ensure that the right version gets loaded.

I'm running 17.04 with all updates installed.

so what has changed since you installed? Installed or removed any software?

I just realised the problem is caused if i turn on 'show desktop icons' in gnome tweak tool.

Tried turning it off, nautilus works fine. Turning it on again, same issue.

However, other FMs, like pcmanfm have no issues even if show desktop icons is turned on.

PyGI Warning is still there, but Nautilus runs fine.
