Fixing BOOTMGR

Asked by Dan

I have a Dell XPS Studio 8100 with a broken bootmgr. My boot info should be at http://paste2.org/g80VFzs3.

I tried repairing it with Boot-Repair, and with LILO. Now, I am booting the computer with Ubuntu from a USB Flash Drive.

Before, when trying to boot up, I only got the BSD, with UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME. Since this is a Dell, I don't have the Windows 7 disk, and Startup Repair does not come up. So, I'm trying to fix the problem without having to buy the Windows 7 Installation disk. After trying to use Boot-Repair, now I see the text to press CTRL+ALT+DEL.

Please help.

Thank you.
