Does the GNUx (Linux) version of Bleachbit wipe the free disk space of other partitions?

Asked by Theatre-X

Does the GNUx (Linux) version of Bleachbit wipe the free disk space of other partitions? I know the Windows version does. Or does it clean the entire disk (As in all partitions' free disk space is wiped)?

The user chooses the partitions through the preferences menu. By default, BleachBit 0.8.7 on Linux will pick /home and /tmp unless they appear to be the same.

I keep getting an error 27 (File Size Too Large) error everytime I try to wipe the free space on my other 2 partitions.

What kind of file system? If you don't know, then in a terminal run 'mount' and paste the output here.

Both partitions are Fat32. Mainly because I couldn't figure out how to just store files on a EXT based file system.

BleachBit 0.8.7 tries to create a file until the partition is full, but it assumes a modern file system. However, FAT only allows 2-4GB files. You will need to wait for an enhancement, or use another utility.

Fixed in SVN r2703 for BleachBIt 0.9.4. Watch for a beta soon, and test it out.
