How to share a file publicly and get a URL for it so that evryone can see?

Asked by nim a

On file tab at https://one.ubuntu.com/files/#, when I click on my files there is a small sign ( a blue circle with an "i" in it ) that says that my file is publicly shared and the URL is: http://one.ubuntu.com/p/84/. But the URL does not exist: this is what ubuntu one says: We couldn't find that (404). I need to share file in a chat room, without using email. Is there anyway I can get a URL for my file so that I can share it with anyone? Or is there another way to do this? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Ubuntu One but if the files you need to share are text files you could use pastebin web site like http://pastebin.com/

A public share feature is planned for the 10.04 release, according to a reply to a similar question: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+question/100085
