Grid View group albums without using the Artist

Asked by pt123

Is it possible for the Grid View to group albums without using the artist? Depending on the music you listen, lot of the albums have various artists.

What you can do is set the "Album Artist" field for all of those songs, and that will force it to be all 1 album.

I opened Puddletag and it has no column for Album Artist. Then I opened EasyTag it has a column for Album Artisht and there it shows there is no information for Album Artist for the files.

But Beatbox is showing there is an Album Artist

Is the Beatbox defaulting to the fact there is no album artist and just copying over the artist info there? Also if this field is important to Beatbox why isn't it an optional column in BeatBox.

thanks

BeatBox uses artist tag if no album artist tag is present. There is no column because album artist is not usually used for viewing, it is used for sorting. Therefore, it uses the album artist tag when sorting by artist but shows you the artist tag. For more information on the album artist tag, use google.

You can edit the album artist tag using beatbox.
