iPod Playlist Support

Asked by Jeremy Coleman

Will beatbox support copying playlists to my iPod or other media device? The only application I have ever had work 100% without issue for this is gtkpod which is a pain. Banshee copies the songs to the player and sometimes creates the playlist, but never actually puts the copied songs into the playlist. Rhythmbox is really spotty in that it works about 20% of the time, but then if I change anything else it gets deleted. Most of the time it shows the changes in rhythmbox, but never actually commits them to the player when ejecting. The same thing happens when creating the playlist directly on the iPod.

It seems like this would be a simple thing to handle, but it is obviously more difficult than I think. I really like the simplicity of beatbox and would love to see a quality player that can handle copying playlists to and creating playslists on an iPod.

BeatBox currently mirrors the playlists in the app onto the iPod.

I suppose I wasn't specific enough. I want to be able to just create a playlist and then copy only the playlist without being held to a "sync" type mentality. I have more music than fits on my small device. I would like to add new music by copying it as a playlist without doing a full sync operation and wiping everything else from the device. Does this make sense? Right now this doesn't seem to be possible with beatbox.

BeatBox currently mirrors the playlists in the app onto the iPod. Whatever playlists are in beatbox will be on your device (and each playlist on the device will only contain the songs that are on the device automatically).

Can you help with this problem?
