"ERROR: Failed to take snapshot !!!" when using "ssh encrypted"

When backing up with the "ssh encrypted" option, BIT always ends with "Failed to take snapshot !!!". The new snapshot then does not appear in the list of snapshots however if I exit BIT and then restart it, the new snapshot appears in the list.

There is no problem when using "ssh" (without encryption).

This is using BIT version 1.1.6 under Fedora 21 x86_64 KDE desktop to a CentOS 7 server.

Just wanted to add that when I use "local encrypted" this problem does not occur.

Please download this patch

and apply it with 'sudo patch /usr/share/backintime/common/snapshots.py < snapshots.patch'

If it still doesn't work after patching please post a new log starting at 'INFO: Create info file' again (the patch will show the real mv command, too)

Hi Germar,

Thank you for working on this. I applied the patch and got the same result on the Fedora 21 system. I tried it also on a newly installed Fedora 22 system just in case something that was affecting BIT got fixed there but it looks like I'm still getting the same result with "SSH encrypted".

Appended below is what I saw when running the patched BIT on Fedora 22.

Many thanks again for your help. I'll probably just use the "SSH" option without encryption if this isn't easily fixed.

It does rename the folder successfully on remote host but the local python instance doesn't recognize that remote change.

Please undo the old patch with
sudo patch -R /usr/share/backintime/common/snapshots.py < old.patch

and apply this patch http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/12634605/
sudo patch /usr/share/backintime/common/snapshots.py < new.patch

This will rename the folder locally (there is no need to do that remote as a simple rename doesn't take much time)
