backintime KDE always full backup (NFS)

Asked by BR

Hello,

In our office we have several Computers which mounted a NAS via NFS.
We all use backintime and it worlks without problems on Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu.

One colleague however on KDE has the problem that there are always full backups and I have no clue why.
I reinstalled an reconfigured everything multiple times.
I can attach some logs if you want...
Any help would be appreciated.

Please read this FAQ https://answers.launchpad.net/backintime/+faq/2403 to make sure the snapshots are really not incremental.

If so you should look into the way your NFS is mounted on the faulty machine. I guess this is done in /etc/fstab. Maybe there are some options missing? But I don't have much experience with NFS.

BTW I'd suggest to not use NFS at all for BIT. Rather use BIT in SSH mode. This will be a lot faster and use less resources on local and remote machine and network. Take a look at 'man backintime' section Modes.

Germar

Thanks for your advise regarding ssh.

I found what was the problem.
Copying was not possible because of "too many levels of symbolic links".
I found the folders which cuased the issue.

Thanks again.
