How to use a remote rsync daemon ?

Asked by Chris2rennes

Hi,
I find Back In Time very useful and use it since a long time but now I wish to backup at a "cloud provider" which provides an rsync ssl access (something like rsync://<email address hidden>::drivexxx).
I try to set the backup folder to "<email address hidden>::drivexxx" with no luck.

How to do that with BIT ?

Chris

This is not possible. At the moment BIT only provide access to remote ssh servers.

And I'm sorry to say that I don't think support for pure rsync daemons will ever be added. BIT need at least the remote path to be mounted locally to show it in the GUI. Which isn't possible with only a rsync daemon on the other side.

Can you ask the provider to gain ssh access to your account?

Germar
