How BiT is started

Asked by LeonP

I understand that the question is stupid, but what can I do? :-)

I have my BiT working under the user account. I want to switch it to the root one.
For this I made total scan of the disk for any known to me ways to start applications (cron, anacron...) - nothing.

So, please, how is BiT started at night?
What do I need to do to switch to the root?

Many thanks ahead.

BIT does install two starter icons: 'Back In Time' and 'Back In Time (root)'. The second will start the app as root ;-)

Beside of this you can start the GUI from command line with 'backintime-gnome' or 'backintime-kde4' depending on your desktop. To start GUI as root from command line please use either 'gksu backintime-gnome' or 'kdesudo -c backintime-kde4'. Please don't use 'sudo' for this as this will cause some troubles.

To start a new snapshot from command line you can use 'backintime --profile-id 1 --backup'.

Scheduled snapshots will be started by 'crontab'. Take a look at 'crontab -l' or 'sudo crontab -l'

Can you help with this problem?
