Clearing the cache

Asked by Patrick Harper

A while ago I stupidly deleted a file whilst BackInTime was backing it up. Now everytime I start the program it tries to continue backing up a non-existent file. I have tried re-installing via the package manager, to no avail. Is there any way I can delete all the cache and settings so that I can go back to square one? Thankyou.

I'm not sure if I understood your problem correct. If there is just the old error message in status bar, this can be solved by 'rm ~/.local/share/backintime/worker.message'

If new snapshots always fail it might help to switch of 'continue on errors' in options and delete 'new_snapshot' folder in /path/to/backintime/<HOST>/<USER>/1/

If your configuration is broken and you just want to start from scratches you can run 'rm -rf ~/.config/backintime ~/.local/share/backintime'

If this all doesn't help please attach the log of that snapshot and which version you use.

Can you help with this problem?
