Problem with 1.0.26 on Raring

Asked by Martin Fisher

Following an upgrade to 1.0.26 on Ubuntu raring BiT does not appear to run (if I start it the GUI flashes and then disappears). backintime -b in a terminal produces the output below. Is this a bug or a problem with my system? Any advice would be gratefull appreciated.

Thanks, Martin

Looks like there is some text in .local/share/backintime/password_cache/PID that doesn't belong in there (normally there should only be one integer e.g. 1234).
Can you please post the output of 'cat .local/share/backintime/password_cache/PID' so I can investigate who wrote in there?
After that please make sure no 'backintime --pw-cache' instance is running anymore with 'ps ax | grep [b]ackintime' and remove .local/share/backintime/password_cache/PID. This should fix it for now.

Many thanks Germar.

.local/share/backintime/password_cache/PID is blank but your solution has fixed the problem - I am very grateful!

Yours, Martin
