Exclude/include priority

Asked by intherye

That question has been asked before, but it seems to me the answer is not valid anymore: https://answers.launchpad.net/backintime/+question/119878

My setup looks like that:

include:
/home/user
/home/user/video/personal

exclude:
/home/user/video

According to the above discussion, everything in video except personal/ should not be backed up. But in my case, the whole video/ folder is backed up. Has behaviour changed in the meantime?

It would be a great feature, if backintime could use rsync-style filter rules (see FILTER RULES section in rsync(1) man page), as it would be very flexible and transparent.

Thanks for the great and effective software,
Martin

Hi Martin,

please try to exclude '/home/user/video/*'. Use the 'Add' Button for this. Not 'Add folder'.

Germar

Thanks, that worked!

So, is there a clear order of precedence of included/excluded folders/files/patterns?
