Since upgrading to ubuntu 12 10, BackInTime no longer does backup over network

Asked by BomBom

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 12 10, BIT no longer runs backups on my home network.
My Target folder used to be ./gvfs which I have changed to /run/user/.../gvfs/targetFolder
but still when I try to do a back up I get a 'Done, no backup needed' and nothing has been copied.

I tried backups on my local HD and drives and BIT runs, so I guess I may not have reset up the target properly!
Also if i close and reopen BIT and go into setting I can see that it has no saved to address of the target folder and has left the field totally blank!

I wouldn't recommend using nautilus gvfs-mount for BackInTime. Rather mount your external device with a mount command in user-callback script and add a line to /etc/fstab to allow your user to mount this.
Alternative you can try out the new SSH mode if your device has ssh access. You'll find a new version of BackInTime in https://launchpad.net/~bit-team/+archive/stable

This fix worked for me. I mounted it directly in /etc/fstab and Back in Time worked perfectly. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and the standard repositories from which I installed Back in Time.

BIT version in Ubuntu 14.04 does support SSH. You don't need to install from PPA anymore.

Can you help with this problem?
