Stopping Backintime

Asked by Daniel Smith

Hi,

This has been discussed else where here, but I'm not sure where to go.
I mistakenly included a linked folder on another server that has 2TB of data.
I have since added an exclusion folder, killed the processes, rebooted the computer and finally uninstalled the software.
But when it was re-installed it simply resumed from where it had left off!!!!

I just love the robustness of this but there needs to be someway for idiots like myself, to clean the slate and start again.

I need to find where the configuration data is stored, so i can nuke it? but some longer term solution needs to included.

kind regards daniel

Hi,

Thanks Dan. I did have a hunt around and found it. Cleaned up the data that should not have been backed-up then restarted.
All works like a dream, It is a great piece of work.
I still think a few additions for Dumbo's like me and i guess lots of other users who are not technically savvy, would open up the software. Lots of folk simply give up when problems mount up.

kind regards again
Daniel

Can this be unmarked as "solved"? I agree that there should really be a slicker way to deal with this situation. Wanting to cancel a backup because of an oversight in setup is really not so uncommon an occurrence. A nice "Cancel" button that handled this gracefully would be wonderful.

I agree with Christopher. Please add a "stop currently running backup process" button in the interface.
