execute command/script before/after making backups

Asked by avlas

This question is related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/backintime/+bug/607146

First a bit of context. I make backups at work in a external hard disk. For that I use the cron option of backintime-kde4 with a daily schedule.

Basically I have two issues that could be solved allowing backintime to run a command/script before/after the backups.

First, I wouldn't have to keep my hard disk automounted whenever I arrive at work (I use a laptop with a docking station), but just pre-mount it before the backup and post-unmount it after.

Second, I wouldn't have to worry what is going on on weekends, so the pre-mount would fail (had disk is not there) so the backup would not start.

What do you think, is this something feasible?

Thanks in advance!

Why can't you do it with "user-callback" script ? This is executed before and after making backups.
