Backing up mounted device

Asked by scuba

I am backing up my user directory using backintime. Upon trying to add a mounted device to my backup set (/mnt/PHOTO) I get an error message -- failed --.

The user backing up the mounted device has read/write abilities on the /mnt/PHOTO/ directory. Have I forgotten something? Why do I get an error?

Regard and thanks for a great backup solution

Run "backintime -b" from a terminal and attach the output.
If you have BIT 1.0 you can use the internal log view.

Hi dan,

thank you for your reply. Yes I am using 1.0.

It seems to me that I have a permissions problem on the mounted drive --
[E] Error: rsync: send_files failed to open "/mnt/PHOTO/Photo Album/Photo Album 2009/2009-12/2009-12-24--19.37.30.jpg": Permission denied (13)
[E] Failed to take snapshot 20.09.2010 21:29:59 !!!

The directories mentioned in the error message are owned by root and read/writeable by the users group...

Have you got an idea?

Thanks and regards
