"Maximized windows don't cover the bar" Problem - 0.3.2.1 - Ubuntu 8.04

Asked by BryanW

I have AWN 0.3.2.1 running on my Ubuntu 8.04 box except for one thing. I want to use the "maximized windows don't cover the bar" option. When I first turn it on everything is fine, until I minimize a window (any window with a launcher icon, new icons do not cause this) the awn icons move up above where they started.

If I close and reopen, it starts out again on the bottom correctly. But as soon as I minimize Firefox, for example, it moves up again. I just want it to stay down aligned to the bottom of the screen. I want this so I can contiune to see my conky across the bottom of the screen when I have windows open.

This is one of those problems where the developers have not been able to accurately reproduce the problem, even though it's not uncommonly reported. Please wait for the 0.4.0 release, as the dock has been completely rewritten. Testing packages for Ubuntu Hardy through Karmic will be available soon (i.e., when they're sufficiently tested and somewhat stable).

Thank you for the reply. I was going to say it seemed like 0.4 would be a long way off, but after visiting your blog it seems closer then I thought. I was worried it had to do with the fact that I complied it myself (incorrectly) or that I edited the <entry name="bar_pos" mtime="1251418471" type="float" value="1"> value to align to the right.

Yeah, in theory, that gconf value should have little, if any, impact on your bug.

Can you help with this problem?
