Could you provide a screenshot? I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Which icons are you referring to?

Also, does the dock start automatically on login?

I am having the same issue. I tried purging awn and all the related packages, as well as removing ~/.config/awn/*. The issue still persists.

Here's a partial strace output:

I am not sure how to add a screenshot but I can provide one upon request.

Thanks,

A screenshot would be helpful. Posting one to imageshack or another image hosting service is sufficient.

One theory is that the dock is starting before the compositing manager. See:

@ggolin: Open Configuration Editor (`gconf-editor`) navigate to /apps/avant-window-navigator/app and check the icon_alpha key - set it to 1.0

If that doesn't work...it might be useful to indicate the video card and graphics driver version.

also...in the preferences dialog (General -> Bar Appearance), make sure the icon offset is not negative.

Thank you for your suggestion. The icon_alpha key was already set to 1.0. I
edited it and saved it. This seems to solve the problem, however I cannot
reproduce the issue.

To be clear - the icons now display correctly.

Thanks.

Greg
