Awn bar should not pup up when touching screen border outside bar width; auto-hide doesn't work!

Asked by w-sky

Hi there,

first, I think the awn bar should not pop up, when I touch the bottom screen border left or right from the actual width of the awn bar. Maybe others think it's fine like it is, so probably the best idea would be a configurations option, whether the awn bar shall pop up by touching the bottom border at any position, or only at the area of its own width.

Second is a problem related to the first. When awn pops up after touching the bottom screen border outside of the bar's position, it will not auto-hide as long as I don't move the mouse over the awn bar. I find this very annoying. (On a small 1024x600 netbook screen and using a touchpad* it is very likely that you often touch the bottom screen border without intending to do so.)

I hope someone agrees to my ideas. ;-) Using awn 0.3.1 with Eeebuntu standard.

Greetings!
Gregor

*touchpad, not mousepad, as I wrote at first

Autohide support has been rewritten in the 0.4 branch. I will direct your suggestions to the developer currently maintaining it.

I agree that those two problems are very annoying. I don't understand why the bar should keep showing when the mouse is not over.

I believe you'll be happy with the way it will work in the rewrite (ie Awn 0.4).

Oh, great!

Will Awn 0.4 come with Ubuntu's auto-update, or do I have to get it myself?

I'm totally looking forward to it. ;-)

Hopefully it will in Karmic, assuming everything goes according to plan.

Can you help with this problem?
