avant-window-navigator Centos 5 install support

Are there any instructions on how to install avant-window-navigator in centos 5.
I tried to install from source but it's not working. When I click on Applications>Accessories>Avant Window Navigator, a quick flash of the menu box without words and then nothing. I don't know what else to do.

You need to make sure compositing is enabled and a compositing manager is running. For details, see http://wiki.awn-project.org/Installation#Prerequisites
