openbox and AWN

Asked by alpharay

I've search the web for a way to install AWN with OpenBox because openbox itself is a window navigator, but is a way to make it available?

As far as I know, the only thing you need is a compositing manager. There is a list in the wiki of compositing managers:

http://wiki.awn-project.org/index.php?title=Installation#Prerequisites

Note that several of those managers (compiz, xfwm4, metacity) are also window managers, which is not necessarily what you want.

yea that's what I've seen so far, I have openbox which is very small and good looking but I would like awn so I can see icons that are hiden let say like amarok or pidgin or any app that hides in the uper panel of gonme-panel.

Try installing xcompmgr. Its a lightweight composite manager and it's not a window manager ;D
