Is it possible to change entries text in "Yet another menu applet" ?

Asked by Igor

Hi ! My Ubuntu 10.04 uses Serbian language.

The problem is: everything is translated nicely except "Lock screen, Logout and Shutdown" buttons in "Yet another menu applet". They are in English still.

I tried with right click->edit menu, but there are no options to change those three buttons.

Is it possible to edit some configuration file or something and "manually" translate these 3 ?

I am actually working on making "Yet another menu applet" (YAMA) fully translatable. You can right now translate to Serbian at this link: https://translations.launchpad.net/awn-extras/0.4/+pots/awn-extras/sr/+translate - you would be the first contributor, but the strings of YAMA are not there yet.

Oh,ok,is there any way I can get notified when they are ready to be translated?

Or should I just check from time to time?

I created a bug report about that. Since it is your question, you are already subscribed to it and get an email with every status change.

I see Serbian translations is managed by the Launchpad Serbian Translators ( https://launchpad.net/~lp-l10n-sr ). If you're not a member of this team, you suggest some translations and they review it. If you have done a lot of suggestions, it might be a good idea to ask the team for review. You can try to join the team, but it looks like it is rather restrictive with new members.

Yeah, but on translations I see: "No translation activities recorded for Launchpad Serbian Translators.".

This "team" seems very inactive.

I have a lots of applications installed and they are all perfectly translated though. As I found out, it looks like its mostly done by this group of people: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=sr&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http://prevod.org/&sl=sr&tl=en

I will need to do some more research on this whole thing with Launchpad and how it works before I decide to join any of teams.

That page looks kinda outdated. Just try to translate it, consider it a bonus if they review your translations :)

Yeah, figures out these guys: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+lang/sr/+index?start=0&batch=75 are behind almost all translations.

These are two different teams: Ubuntu Serbian Team is responsible for Ubuntu-specific software and adaptations, the Launchpad Serbian Team is responsible for software hosted on Launchpad, that can also be used in other distributions. So the Launchpad Team is responsible for awn.

And yes, they do translate, but for some reason translations are not tracked for a team, but for individuals only. I don't know why, but every team has "No translation activities recorded". You don't have to join a team, you can do your suggestions without that. But if you want to join, simply ask the team owner.
