Emptying trash causes two icons to be displayed

Asked by alsingm

I'm running Suse 10.3 with compiz-fusion desktop enabled. I was using awn 0.2.6 but, recently upgraded to 0.3.2.
The reason for the upgrade is that I was hoping the problem I'm having with the Trash applet was solved. Here it
is ...

When I empty the trash, awn insists on briefly displaying another trash can icon. I've changed the icon to the
OSX icon theme version using the ln -s method described here. No change. When emptying the trash a second
trash icon (the OSX icon) still pops up on the dock.

I suspect it is a side effect of running awn under compiz-fusion. Any ideas?

Thanks

BTW...I also have an Ubuntu machine with awn 0.2.6 installed and compiz enabled (not compiz-fusion) and I
don't have this problem.

In the future, please file applet-specific questions in the Awn Extras answer tracker.

For what it's worth:
* the trash applet has not been changed between 0.2.6 and 0.3.2.
* We have not had any reports of this behavior with people who run Compiz-Fusion.
* FYI, Compiz-Fusion is basically the Compiz window manager plus a bunch of plugins to make it shinier.

Can you help with this problem?
