Why is auto-ndiswrapper asking me to restart firefox?

Why am I being prompted to restart Firefox when I run auto-ndiswrapper?

Pop-up window says: Close firefox. Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing firefox process, or restart your system.

$ sudo ./Auto-NDIS-0.1/auto-ndis.py

The driver needs to be fetched manually from: http://www.usr.com/support/product-template.asp?prod=5417
Please place the ".inf" file, along with the .sys files into:
/tmp/auto-ndis/14e4:4318 (rev 02)
When you have succesfully dowloaded the driver and extracted it press <Enter>:

Platform: Up-to-date Ubuntu 8.04 on 32-bit Intel Celeron.

what happends here is that auto-ndis tryes to open said url for you, so you can fetch the driver manually. either try running it right after a clean reboot, where no firefox is running, or just copy the displayed url and download the driver.
